Retailers and readers...SPOTLIGHT: MEGATRON - written and drawn by me - coming this February.

So swears Megatron.

Wednesday, October 24, 2012

A beintot, mons pillocks! It is I, with tales of how and where to witness me. What's that? You are unenticed by such possibilities? Well swivel on it - I have an ace up my skinny-fitted sleeve, and that bi-valued card is SIMON FURMAN! Yes, he (Simon) and I (Nick) are making an appearance at a Dublin Transformers Convention this Saturday 27th October. It's called Mini-Con, and it's hosted by the actually-genuinely-not internet hyperbole-these guys are the real deal - Fantesticles Dublin City Comics!

Simon is signing and dropping RG#1 hints per pint bought all day from 12pm, while I'll be sketching my life away, selling full colour art prints (Including the Josh Burcham-coloured MTMTE print that sold like an ex-reality star on a street corner at this year's Auto Assembly) and original artwork and covers from More Than Meets The Eye. The original artwork will all be selling at around and above €150, but come early and get on the sketch list, and I'll whip you up something for €10. Prints are also €10 each, so there are plenty of affordable options for those who want to pick something relatively unique

Simon and I are also gonna talk you all through the making of our first professional team-up together, Spotlight: Shockwave, in a powerpoint presentation showing you the stages from script to scribbles. That should be at 3pm in the shop's fabled Geekeasy section.

Check Dublin City Comics' Facebook Page and their dedicated Mini-Con Listing Listing for more details, as they'll have any last minute info that may crop up. The reasons for shuffling your corporeal assamblages down to the shop this weekend are infinite, but as well as basking in the glow of Simon's charm and chumminess, or finagling details from me about who I'm putting in the spotlight in 2013, there will also be very special, once in a quarter-of-a-century prizes dispensed throughout the day. We can't say anything yet, but let's just say that if you get lucky, 'you'll have better things to do that night than die...'

I love DCC, I love these events, I love Simon F and I love YOU. So I can't wait for this Saturday afternoon. Bring a friend, and come hang out with us all. (And, y'know, buy some comics and toys.)

More Colours Than Reach The Retinas

Everybody Have A Good Time!

So, here's the colouredy version of the More Than Meets The Eye art brint, beautifully and expertly manhandled by my phavourite Photoshop phunster, Josh Burcham. Someday,Josh, you and I will be reunited and we can whore our wares side-by-side, like slutty versions of Prime and Magnus in Resurrection Part 1. If anyone's curious to see the lineart be improved before your very eyes, Josh recorded this munificent moment for posterity. Check him out doing his thing on hsi livestream channel Look at him go!

So yeah, Auto Assembly tomorrow in Birmingham (check for d'tails) and I can't wait. Already about to be sucked into it's slipstream with very little sleep, so be gentle, folks. I'm selling artwork from MTMTE #6 (Though please be prepared to pay extra for stuff featuring villains from Last Stand of The Wreckers), earliers stuff like Infestation and Ongoing #13, and I'm considering bringing some stuff from Death of Optimus Prime, though I'm loathe to part with those pages. Plenty of covers available too, (Covers to MTMTE kids! Woo!) as well as earlier prints, such as Prime vs Megatron, Overlord on the Throne (FNARR) and 'Wreck And Rule'. Colour prints are £10 a pop.

(A lot of overseas folks are interested in this MTMTE piece. I'm really not very well set up for mail order here, in more ways than one, but if I can set up an efficient system which will work, I'll be sure to let you know. Thanks so much for all your interest. Maybe I should think about doing a regular print sale thing. We'll see.)

Another way to grab original artwork is to grab some sketches from me. Head shots are £10 each and this year I'm gonna try and do full figure commissions too for £50 each. Sketch lists fill fast, but I'll do my best to get around to as many as I can.

I LOVE this time of year! I'm like Santa Clause AND a kid at Christmas!

So, hope to see you all at AA this weekend, where I promise I'll be sharper and wittier and less desperate to sell you things than I am here.

What-ho, plasma bags! I'm a last-minute addition to the programme of the London Comic Con MCM Expo this weekend. I've seemingly won some sort of prize whereby Nickelodeon have asked me to chat to their Senior VP (current series) Rich Magallanes and Turtles' co-creator Kevin Eastman (!!!) as part of the launch panel for the new animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles show. I'm chairing a Q&A session with the guys at 11.30 am on Saturday 26th where we'll be debuting actual footage from the upcoming relaunch. This is A Big Deal. Check for more deets.

When I'm not tending to my Turtle Tasks, you'll find me at table J13 in the Comics Village where I'll be doing sketches and signing, as well as flogging original artwork and prints. You may even see the below image on display.

Also, sniff out the Jagex booth, and you may seek James 'MTMTE' Roberts looking tormented. Ease his soul with a cuddle, my friends.

SPREAD THE WORD! Come along and see us and make us feel tolerated.

Thanking you.

Hey! Cheers for popping by and making last weekend at the Belfast Heroes & Legends show so pleasurable. (especially one tiny little Transformers knucklehead called Eoghan. That kid knows his stuff...) This weekend - 25th & 36th of February, I'm at the London Super Comic Convention, lurking by the IDW booth with Editor in Chief Chris Ryall. I'll be a-sketchin' and a-sellin' prints, and also shifting shome original artwork from sundry TF comics, so come and trade go-nowhere badinage and pithy small talk with me.

And check out the Raph I rustled up last weekend! Come and get one!

Heroes and Villians and Legends and Me

Well done all of you for buying that there More Than Meets The Eye#1. Apparently it was the best-selling shape-shifting robot-themed periodical on sale that week, so give yourselves a reacharound. #2 (Nick-free but Milne-stuffed) has slithered down the chute this week and keeps up the pace. I'm still drawing covers on the sod, so keep buying it for the sheer Roche-completism of it all.

I'm in Belfast this weekend at the W5 for the Heroes and Legends Convention. ( It's got proper guests like The Guy From Aliens and An Doctor Who, as well as blaggers like myself, Declan Shalvey and PJ Holden, all sketching and signing for your mirth and disinterest. And I'll be debuting THIS colour print at the show:

For sale to you, along with my older Wreckers prints, and a TF: Prime poster wot I made. Lines are by me, and colours are by my fourth favourite member of the soon-to-splode-up yer Transformers: Regeneration 1 team, John-Paul Bove. JPB has been picked to colour the Furman/Wildman/Baskervilleman continuation of the original TF series which hits this summer, so it's a genuine ear-nuzzler to have him colour up this little scene. Check out his blog at which includes some RG1 tasters. He's a really perfect fit for the series as he was actually successfully tried for grave-robbing and attempted necromancy last year. Thanks John-Paul, you war-crime of a human.

So come say hi, pick up a print, and ask me what James Roberts REALLY did to that terrier. And if you can't make Belfast, I'm gonna be at the London Super Comic Con ( next weekend at the IDW booth. Same deal: come get a sketch or a print, and depending on which shipping list you believe, have me sign the Wreckers Hardcover.

Looking forward to fleshy contact with you. Come and get it.

Look, I'm here now, and that's all that matters.

This week sees the release of the new Transformers Ongoing, MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE #1. Wroted by James Roberts and colourded by Josh Burcham, it's a comic I'm immensely proud of, and something that i think would catch they eye of the casual TF-browser, as well as comic fans in general. That's always how I approach anything I work on: make it a good comic first and foremost, and it's something to strive for when tackling Transformers. if you have any resistance to robo-comics or you've been burned before, I beg of you, for your own good, check out this (and its sister title, ROBOTS IN DISGUISE, out in two weeks) little peach and then make up your mind. Previews are on the web, but below is the un-coloured line-art for the first few pages. Love to hear what you think.

(Incidentally, Josh Burcham put in one of my favourite ever jobs from him on this issue. He's my go-to guy when I wanna look slick, and man, he nails it in this issue. Give it a Whirl...)

Sadly, this is my last interior work on TFs for the foreseeable, but I'm sure our paths will cross again. I love telling stories in that universe as it's easily as rich as any other franchise-fiction doing the rounds, and IDW have played a massive part in making it so. MTMTE & RID is good comics, folks. Don't be robotist: buy 'em.

I'd say you'd love to meet me, wouldn't you? I'd say you'd like nothing more than to scrutinise me from every conceivable angle and blow on my ear-hairs. Well tomorrow, 14th January 2012, you can flippin' well do that. I'm doing an in-store signing session from 2pm onwards in Dublin City Comics. All the factlets are here: and I'd love to see you and your faces. I'll be flogging Wreckers prints too, so bring moolah! What larks, Pip.

If you're the sort of person who likes to avoid me, then go there anyhow, only not when I'm there. Ridiculous range of collectible toys and amazing service with your American comics. I recommend 'em, and that should be enough for you.

I think this ol' blog will get more of an airing in the next few weeks, mainly as I drum up interest in upcoming appearances; I'm at the Heroes and Legends Con in Belfast in February, so please pop along and say hi to me there. Sketch sessions and prints ahoy.

Oh, and also, there's a recent Q&A with me on the IDW Message boards. Head here for a mirthsome read. Any other Qs you'd like me to A, send 'em to this blog! It might keep me regular!

I tolerate most of you.
